The 12 Oils of Christmas

Before we dive in, I just want to touch base on a few quick safety points. Oils are all natural, yes, but that doesn’t mean you don’t still need to be careful!

- Use a carrier oil (like olive oil, sweet almond oil, or coconut oil) to dilute your essential oil when applying to skin. This isn't always necessary but it's best to start that way to ensure your skin isn't too sensitive!
-Store your oils in a cool, dark place (like the North Pole  ) to keep their compounds from altering.
-Keep oils out of your eyes and ears. If they accidentally get where they shouldn't go, use a carrier oil (not water) to rinse it out.
- It's always wise to start slow & small and consult your doctor before use.
- Put oils in glass containers, especially citrus oils. They are incredible at pulling toxins out of things, but if you are going to drink water with EOs in it, you don't want to also drink plastic
-Check the bottle before ingesting an oil to be sure that it is labeled as a "dietary supplement" so you know it is safe for taking internally!
-Always dilute with a carrier oil for kids.
-Only diffuse around newborns. We don’t usually apply topically until our little snowflakes are around 6 months old, and then we dilute heavily!
-And of course, use YL. It's the safest out there!

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: Digize for my tummy!

Seriously can we talk about Digize for a minute??

It supports a healthy digestive system!
It helps alleviate nausea & upset/sour stomach (an absolute necessity after stuffing yourself full of Christmas cookies)
It's useful for occasional irregularity or constipation.
It can totally offer relief from occasional heartburn, and for those of you who love yourself some Christmas ham as much as I do, I love how it alleviates fullness, bloating and occasional gas from overeating. You can even take it in a capsule PRIOR to eating to help avoid those things altogether!

Now, I’ll be honest, it’s not my favorite smell so I usually layer some Peppermint over top of it to help cover the stank.

Tummy, meet your Christmas miracle.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: Frank for Christmas photos!

Trying to get your family together for just ONE photo that’s acceptable enough to be sent out on the Christmas card is hard enough without having to worry about how your skin looks! Frankincense helps smooth the appearance of aging skin and can even out redness/splotchiness, In short, I add a drop to my moisturizer both day and night and my face adores it!

Frank also promotes feelings of calm and balance, and increases spiritual awareness. I suggest that you rub it on the bottom of your feet to alleviate nervous energy.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: Lemon for my water!

Ok, I feel like I’m a broken record with this overeating thing, but HELLO! Food is a big part of the holidays, and there’s no way I’m not going to indulge just a little! Enter Lemon. It’s a natural detoxifier and is fantastic at cleaning up all your bodily systems. So once January 1st hits and you’re ALLLL about losing your Christmas weight, this is a great one to add to your water to help you meet those goals. Or you can take it in a capsule with Peppermint & Grapefruit for even MORE healthy weight support.

Lemon also supports proper nasal function (buh-bye winter sniffles!) and healthy respiratory function. Basically, it wins for best supporting role in your body's film.

Lemon contains the powerful constituent limonene which I highly recommend you Google real quick - it’s incredible!

And another fun one..we use it to remove sticky residue leftover from price tags (so.many.price.tags. on all those new Christmas toys), or to remove crayon/pen marks from walls or other things. Good ol' family fun for everyone!

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: Stress Away for Santa tantrums.

Ok, picture this: You’re waiting in the never-ending line at the mall so that your kids can see Santa. You’re doing your best to keep them from rioting by handing them an endless stream of Goldfish and Cheerios. You FINALLY make it to the front of the line and you’re seconds away from getting your keepsake picture of your precious cherubs that you will treasure for years to come. You walk them up to Santa only to find that one of them is deathly afraid and takes off screaming like a banshee, while the other is trying with all her might to pull Santa’s beard right off his face.

What’s a momma to do? Stress Away. Stress Away for you. For your kids. For the photographer. And definitely for poor Santa who was an innocent victim in all of this.

Roll it onto your wrists, your neck, your chest, your feet, your whole life. Diffuse it to promote a calm environment. For those kiddos who just seem to have more stress in their little hearts, this one is beloved.

It helps to reduce nervous tension and induce relaxation.
It supports the nervous system when exposed to occasional stress...and it's invigorating and refreshing.
It also helps to reduce stressors at night so that normal sleep patterns can be maintained.

Stress Away, I love you.

On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me: ALL THE PEPPERMINTTTT!

Arguably one of my favorite oils of ALL of them (and I have a LOT) Here's a whole list of things Peppermint does:
-Supports gastrointestinal system comfort (remember when I said I use it with Digize? Yeah, it’s better for more than just covering the smell!)
-Promotes healthy bowel function
-Supports proper digestive function
-Natural breath freshener (add a drop to your hot cocoa. Seriously, it will change your life and you will thank me later)
-Helps promote focus and clarity
-Helps relieve minor aches and pains associated with daily life when taken internally
-Helps with the occasional head tension (ya know, like the kind you might get from those political debates at the Christmas table..yikes)
-Helps alleviate nausea
-Encourages proper respiratory function (rub some on your chest to combat that cold-weather chest tightness)
-Supports proper joint and cartilage function
-Provides nervous system support during times of stress
-Suppresses appetite (combine with Lemon + Grapefruit for the ultimate healthy weight trio!)
-Relief of occasional heartburn

Seriously?! The. Very. Best.

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: Purification for stinky bathrooms.

Can we have some real talk for a moment? Christmas means parties, and if you’re hosting that means a WHOLE lot of people in and out of your bathroom. Without going TMI on you, let’s just say that can lead to a less than pleasant odor for your guests. Purification to the rescue!

It seriously neutralizes odors in the air and purifies/cleanses the air of stubborn or lingering smells. Like, when you think of a classically ‘clean’ smell, Purification is basically what you’re thinking of!

It’s also the perfect choice for zapping blemishes before family photos! Just dab a drop right on the blemish morning and night to help dry it right up!

Put a few drops in Santa’s (aka your hubby’s) boots to remove the stench. You can thank me later

Add to a cotton ball and put in the vents of your car while you travel to and fro to help freshen stale air.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: Lavender for sugar plum visions.

Anybody remember Buddy the Elf’s four main food groups? Candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup. Yep, those are basically what’s coursing through our kids veins during the holidays. And as such, it can be a little difficult to get those sweet angels to wind down at the end of the night. And then we tell them that Santa is going to watch them while the sleep, so add ‘creeped out’ to the already insane sugar insomnia and that equals zero sleep for Mom and Dad.

Luckily, we have Lavender. It has an incredibly soothing and refreshing aroma, so we use it for#allthesilentnights. We diffuse it (along with some other favorite sleepy oils like Cedarwood and Gentle Baby) to create a calming and comforting atmosphere whenever we need it.

I also recommend adding it to your favorite hair, body and beauty products for some longer lashes, better hair, and all sorts of pretty results.

Lavender has many constituents that contribute to a vast range of uses. I encourage you to keep searching online for all that it can do. You won't be disappointed!

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: Thieves for your great aunts kisses.

Family get-togethers means a whoooole lot of contact with people (maybe even more than you would like), and that means a whooooole lot of germs being passed around. So, you’re gonna need Thieves.

Thieves is pretty much the best for supporting healthy immune function, which makes me a huge fan. It complements daily wellness regimens and helps maintain a healthy respiratory system. Rub it on the bottom of your feet and down your spine daily to help fight off any germs you might come in contact with.

You can also add a drop to a mug of hot water for a serious immune boost!

Thieves helps freshen stale air when diffused, and it has a fantastic fall-ish smell.

Use a drop or two in a spray bottle with water for cleaning...works like a charm!

On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: RC for snowball fights.

Who doesn’t love a good snowball fight/snowman building session?! It’s one of the best parts of winter! But all the exposure to cold air can leave you a little breathless (or even worse, with a cough & cold).

RC contains three different types of Eucalyptus (E. globulus, E. radiata, and E. citriodora), all of which are high in the naturally occurring constituent eucalyptol. Another one I encourage you to Google real quick  It’s AMAZING for respiratory support and will have you breathing easy in no time! I love mixing it with lemon and coconut oil for a soothing chest rub. And you can put it on the bottoms of your feet and cover it with socks for an even bigger 1-2 punch!

If you’re a runner, this one is great to rub on your chest before you exercise to help open up your airways!

Seriously, every home needs this one in their arsenal!

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: PanAway for falling off your ice skates.

Pan Away is designed to relieve occasional muscle soreness and tension. It helps to counter stressed nerves, which I personally could use often. In this blend, there are Peppermint and Wintergreen essential oils which soothe sore joints and ligaments after exercise. Add it to massage oil for use with occasional tension or sore muscles..heyyyy-o! !  It's perfect for localized soreness after hanging Christmas lights, pulling kids on a sled, carrying presents back and forth to your secret hiding spot, or really any kind of physical activity. Good good stuff!

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: Copaiba for old mattresses.

I don’t know about you, but we travel a lot during the holidays, which means we end up sleeping in some not-so-comfy places and I wake up with all sorts of aching joints! Well, my friends let’s talk about Copaiba (pronounced “co-pa-ee-ba"). It helps our bodies do their thing when it comes to injury or inflammation. It pairs really nicely with PanAway and Peppermint. Just sayin’. You can also put a couple drops in a capsule and let it do its thing!

This beauty also amplifies the effects of anything it's added to, which makes it a "driving oil." It aids in easing common digestion discomforts when taken internally...oh, sweet relief!

And, well, it's the main ingredient in Stress Away, so obviously it can be real soothing.

Aaaaand it promotes a youthful appearance from the inside out! Yes please!

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: Christmas Spirit for all the parties!

I’m SO SO excited about this one you guys!

It is the MOST divine smell - I keep it going in my diffusers from November until January (I love it with Peppermint) and EVERYONE that comes to my house comments immediately on how great it smells. So you can kick that toxic Bath & Body Works stuff to the curb and replace it with something that smells just as good and is actually beneficial to you! Yes, please!

Along with your fancy new starter kit, you’re going to get something else TRULY special. Namely, a huge community of oilers to support you in your wellness journey and all the educational resources you could ever need. You’ll never be left wondering whether you should use Lemon or Peppermint when your little reindeer’s nose is as red as Rudolph’s on Christmas day.

Seriously, our online family is one of the best unexpected perks I’ve ever received
